Councillor Penny Otton comments re A Level Chaos
The Government's sudden U-turn on A Level results, after days of uncertainty for Suffolk students, has been welcomed by opposition councillors at Suffolk County Council. Cllr Penny Otton commented at the time: "The past few days have been completely chaotic, and I imagine very distressing for students and their parents. Although we welcome the Government's U-turn on A Level results, I am shocked at the way this situation has been handled. There is a big issue here about the Government not listening to professionals and refusing to trust teachers.
"Students still need to be supported now. For many, their university places and job offers have already been lost, whilst others will need guidance on persuading their universities to accept them with their revised results. The Government, and our MPs in Suffolk, owe it to students to support them through this time and should not be walking away from the mess they have created."
